The funeral service will be held Friday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Gillis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at West End Cemetery.
Mr. Black was born September 8, 1947, in Moore County to the late John Hubert Black and Dorothy Louise Sullivan Black.
Mr. Black served his country in the United States Army and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. A family member stated that, "Carl was loved and will be missed by his many relatives and friends."
Mr. Black was preceded in death by a brother, Grier Black.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Nancy Dick; one son, Allen Black of Reidsville; one daughter, Carla Black of Wadesboro; stepchildren, Terry Pettitt of Hoffman, Susan Thompson of Jackson Springs, and James Dick of China. He is also survived by two sisters, Sara Harris of West End, and Lara Jewell of Morrison, Okla.; one brother, John Thomas Black of Granite City, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Boles Funeral Home of Seven Lakes is serving the family.
