Nancy Elizabeth McQuillin, 86, of Pinehurst, died Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Inn at Quail Haven.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. McQuillin was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late Horace and Elizabeth Cressman Mager. She was a member of the Community Congregational Church in Southern Pines. In 1981, at the age of 62, she graduated from Seton Hill College in Greensburg, Pa., with a bachelor's degree in creative writing.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Mac McQuillin.

"She was very fond of her special companion dog, Charlie," said a family member.

Mrs. McQuillin is survived by her sons, John McQuillin of Raleigh, Peter McQuillin of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Michael McQuillin of Seattle, Wash.; her daughters, Sandra McQuillin of Richmond, Calif., and Carol Dillon of Houston, Texas; her seven grandchildren, Maureen, Tod, Thea, Beta, Ben, Brian and Megan; her two great-grandchildren, Seth and Chris; and her companion, Ben Lambert.
