WEB SPECIAL: Pinehurst delays vote on new architectural standards

After public hearings Tuesday, the Pinehurst Village Council did not vote on proposed amendments to the development ordinance setting new residential architectural and landscaping standards.
Most of the concern was in reference to a proposed architectural standard that would lower the maximum roof height from 35 feet to 28 feet.
Doug Middaugh speculated that many existing homes in Pinehurst will be out of compliance with new standards, meaning that owners would be unable to rebuild if their homes are destroyed.
The Moore County Homebuilders Association opposes the proposed architectural standards.
