CARTHAGE -- Parade begins at 11 a.m. in downtown Carthage. Additional activities will be observed after the parade, from noon to 2 p.m., at Nancy Kiser Park, located on Rockingham Street, adjoining Carthage Elementary School.
Food and drink will be available for purchase and there will be activities for children.
Registration is required for the car show. The cost is $10, which entitles entrants to one free meal courtesy of the Rotary Club of Carthage. Car show participants may also contact Rotharian Peter Little at 947-1659.

ABERDEEN -- Sponsored by the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department, the town's 42nd annual 4th of July celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Aberdeen Lake.
The Entertainers will perform beginning at 6 p.m. Admission to the event is free. A $2 wristband is available for purchase and will allow children to participate in a variety of games, win prizes and have their faces painted. Prizes will be awarded to most patriotic, best costume and most original costume.
There will be many different vendors on hand for the event and myriad games and activities, including an inflatable castle and monster basketball.
The celebration is renowned for offering one of the largest fireworks displays in the area. For more information, call 944-1115.
VILLAGE OF PINEHURST -- The Annual Pet Parade returns at 9 a.m., followed immediately at 10 a.m. with the Village Community Parade, featuring the Kazoo Band, Fine Blue Line Bluegrass Band, Marine Corps Color Guard and Irish Dancers.
The pet parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Given Memorial Library.
A littany of other festivities will follow. Prizes in six categories will be distributed at the parade, which will circle the village, beginning in front of the Holly Inn.
Moore County's favorite Uncle Sam, Clete Cleetwood, will lead the route of more than 50 groups through the Village, with the help of the Pope Air Force Base Color Guard and the Marine Corps Leagues Area Detachment, VFW and American Legion representatives.
Parade entertainment will delight crowds with performances by bluegrass band The Fine Blue Line, the famed Kazoos Band, clown Gloria Swain, the Shriner Sand-T mini cars, Sophisticated Ladies, Sweet Adelines, Quicksilver Cloggers, Irish Dancers and the Golf Capitol Chorus.
The Moore County Concert Band directed by David Seiberling will present its annual Fourth of July Concert at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, in the Grand Ballroom of The Carolina Hotel. The concert's theme will be "America in Song." Admission is free.
By night, the Village Fair Barn will open its gates beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a community ice cream social and family picnic. Children's games will make for a fun evening kickoff, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Kids of all ages will enjoy hot air balloon and pony rides, family hayrides, and community displays.
Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch as the Fair Barn outdoor stage features music by the Visions Band and the Andrews Sisters beginning at 6:30 p.m. The entertainment will herald in the night sky and fireworks that begin at 9 p.m.
