Addor

The annual Addor community celebration will be held Saturday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to noon. It will include a four quarters kickball game. Don't forget to bring your quarters.

On Sunday, July 2, GospelFest will begin at 6 p.m. at Elizabeth Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in honor of our community uniting together.

Everyone is invited to attend. Many different groups will participate. If your church cannot attend, we are asking that you send a donation.

The car wash will be held Saturday, July 8, at McLean Detailing Shop in Pinebluff.

You can get a car wash and while you are waiting you can have a snack like hot dogs, cheeseburgers and much more.

This is a fundraiser for Elizabeth Chapel Free Will Baptist Church's building fund.

Men's day will be held at New Zion Church on Sunday, July 9. The special guest will be the Spaulding Chapel Church and their pastor from Taylortown. Everyone is welcome.

Birthday wishes go out this week to Shelton Cox (July 1).

Diana Brown, Gladys Core Giles and Betty Jean Ellerbe are all among the homebound.

Connie L. Covington, Stella Gillispie, Lenola Washington, Eugene McRae, Leonard McMillian, Allen Smith, and Alton Smith are all in nursing homes.

Turning Point Worship Center presents Mime and Drama Camp 2006 on Aug. 19 and 20.

Registration fee is $25 and is due by August 16 (please make checks payable to Turning Point Worship Center). Fee includes breakfast, lunch, gloves, and face paint. This two-day event will be a time for fellowship and learning. Saturday, Aug. 19, classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Sunday recital will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Worship and the word begins each Sunday at 10:30 a.m., and Bible classes are on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

St. John's in Carthage will have family and friends day Sunday, July 2, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker to be announced. Bible classes are held Tuesday at 6 p.m. Nathaniel Hooker is the pastor.

Birthday wishes went out to Martin Devonn McMillan (June 26).

On the prayer list are all the sick and shut-ins, including Mother Matthews who is recovering at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, and Francis Person and Evelyn Crawford who are recovering.

A men's day program was held at Stone's Chapel Sunday. The church pastor is Overseer William Russell.

A pastor's care program was held at Body of Christ Outreach Ministry on Lemon Springs Road Sunday afternoon. The church pastor is Larry Ray.

Irene Ray visited with Grace Moore Friday evening. They had a good time visiting.

William Mack is doing better. Anna Jean Ray is also doing better. Please keep them and their families in your prayers.

Also pray for Frances Person, Mildred Shaw, Flora Taborn, Tom Cole, Ola Williams and several others.

Mary Lane Jackson is in the hospital at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Everette Martin and Sister are in Manor Care. Please pray for them and their families.

A correction to last week: The article should have stated that Dawn Hayward was a guest of John and Irene Ray at Body of Christ in Lemon Springs. She played her guitar and sang, "He's Alive." She sang and played beautifully. The pastor is Larry Ray.

God's House of Prayer Ministry will hold Bible study tonight at 6:30. Pastor Mary Kelly will teach the lesson.

On Saturday, July 1, at 5 p.m., the Gospel Mellowtones with Pastor Mary Kelly will perform at the McLeod family reunion at the Douglass Center.

Regular worship service will be held Sunday at God's House of Prayer starting at 11 a.m., with Pastor Mary Kelly preaching. Sunday school starts at 10 a.m.

Academy Heights Alumni committee is planning a reunion for Sept. 15 through 17.

There will be a tour of Academy Heights Elementary School on Friday, Sept. 15. A banquet will be held at the Days Inn on Saturday, Sept. 16, and a worship service will be held at the House of Prayer on Sunday morning, Sept. 17.

The chairperson is Dorothy Brisbane. Other committee members include Bishop Larry Brown, Lucille Brown, Pat Dowdy Gatlin, Geraldine Odom Jackson, Jimmy McCrimmon, Shirley Ingram Pearson, Rev. Theodore Spencer, and Helen Alford Spencer.

Several other alumni are working very hard to make this event a success. Anyone who attended Academy Heights between 1929 and 1969 is asked to contact one of the committee members for more information. Former teachers are invited, too. Also, copies of old photos are needed.

Vacation Bible School is being held at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church today (Wednesday) through Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The director is Marlene Pittman. The pastor is the Rev. Charles Nabors.

Lakisha Williams, 4-H T-Town Teen leader, and club members Justin Gaddy, Brandon Lambert, Brant'ne Lambert and John H. Sharpe attended the 4-H District Day at Union Pines High School last Thursday. Talyn Horton entered a board display.

More than 400 youths and parents from around the state attended the event. Rose Highland-Sharpe was the emcee for the talent show. Linda Gore is the Moore County 4-H coordinator.

Several T-Town youths will attend 4-H camps this summer. If you would like for your child to attend a camp, call Linda Gore at 947-3188.

Pastor Marvin Trent and his wife, Linda Goins Trent, will sponsor the Super Summer Fest Tent Crusade 2006 near the community center building in Jackson Hamlet Saturday, July 15, and Sunday, July 16, at 7:30 p.m.

If you would like to participate as an inspirational dance group or choir or provide food, please contact Pastor Trent at (888) 218-7368.

Ministers are welcome to participate with mini-sermons. Free food and free haircuts will be available. Pastor Trent and his wife are former residents of Jackson Hamlet and are the pastors of The Joshuas of Today Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
