CVB Launches New Sport and Planning Section on Web Site

The Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) for the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area has announced the addition of a new Sports and Tournament Planning section on its Web site, www.homeofgolf.com, designed specifically to assist sports planners.

The new section provides valuable tools to set up an event in Moore County and surrounding areas using top-notch sports venues and facilities for soccer, baseball, softball, golf, equestrian and much more.

The site also incorporates all of the services provided by the CVB to help the sports planner with area accommodations, restaurant information and attractions, as well as assistance in promoting the event locally, regionally and nationally.

A simple form, "Sports Request For Proposal" (RFP), tailored to the needs of Sports Planners allows easy access to all of the CVB services.

"We know that Sports Planners are well aware of the area's long association with golf, but we want them to know that our area has facilities to host many other types of sporting events as well, and to think of our area first when planning their next tennis, soccer, or baseball tournament," said Beverly Stewart, director of sales for the CVB.

Centrally located in the state, the combination of quality sports venues, affordability, and variety of accommodation choices makes the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area a popular value destination for sporting events.

While the area has hosted huge sporting events such as the 1999 and 2005 U.S. Open Championships, it has also hosted popular state amateur events including the 1991 through 2006 United States Tennis Association's League Adult State Championships and the NC AAU Middle School (Wrestling) Championships.

Even if golf is not the focus of the competition or event, it makes for a great amenity that participants, organizers and spectators can enjoy during their visit, Stewart said.
